My name is Abby and I’m the owner and content producer behind Briminnie. The following Privacy Policy only governs my website Briminnie.

Briminnie is hosted on, which is managed by Automattic. Automattic includes various services and features on websites, such as Briminnie, to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors. Information that’s collected

Information a visitor provides

Follower and subscriber info

When a visitor signs up to follow or subscribe to Briminnie, Automattic collects the sign-up information requested by Briminnie, which typically includes an email address.


When a visitor leaves a comment on Briminnie, Automattic collects that comment, and other information that the visitor provides along with the comment, such as the visitor’s name and email address.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms & other

Automattic may also collect other information that a visitor enters on Briminnie – such as a contact form submission or a search query.

If you submit a message through the form on my contact page, your name and email will be captured as well as the contents of your message. I will use your contact information to get in touch with you regarding your inquiries. I do not use the information submitted through the contact form for marketing purposes nor do I sell your information.

Information automatically collected

Technical data from visitors’ computers, etc.

Automattic collects the information that web browsers, mobile devices, and servers typically make available about visitors to Briminnie, such as the IP address, browser type, unique device identifiers, language preference, referring site, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information. However, I do not have access to this information.

Visitor interactions

Automattic collects information about a visitor’s interactions with Briminnie, including the “likes” and “ratings” left by visitors to Briminnie.

Location info

Automattic may determine the approximate location of a visitor’s device from the IP address. Automattic collects and uses this information to, for example, tally for Briminnie how many people visit my site from certain geographic regions. Akismet commenter info

Automattic collects information about visitors who comment on Briminnie using their Akismet anti-spam service. The information Automattic collects typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Briminnie URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Cookies and other technologies

A cookie is a string of information that Briminnie stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to Briminnie each time the visitor returns. Pixel tags (also called web beacons) are small blocks of code placed on Briminnie. Automattic uses cookies and other technologies like pixel tags to help identify and track visitors and usage of Briminnie, and to deliver targeted ads when ads are enabled for free sites (such as Briminnie). Embedded content from other websites

Articles on Briminnie may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Google Analytics

I track the use of Briminnie using Google Analytics to ensure I’m producing relevant, high-quality content for my users. Google Analytics provides information such as referring websites and user actions on Briminnie. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, location, operating system, and device, but Google Analytics does not capture any personally-identifiable information.

How visitor information is used

Automattic uses information about Briminnie visitors in order to provide their services to me. I use Automattic’s services to create and manage Briminnie, write blog posts, and moderate comments.

In addition to the above, Automattic uses some information about Briminnie visitors who are also their Users as described in their Privacy Policy.

Automattic may also use and share information that has been aggregated or reasonably de-identified, so that the information could not reasonably be used to identify any individual. For instance, Automattic may publish aggregate statistics about the use of their services.

How visitor information is shared

I do not share personally-identifiable data with anyone nor with any services.

The non-identifiable data collected on Briminnie using third-party services, such as Google Analytics and any others listed above, is shared with each respective service.

However, Automattic may share information collected about Briminnie visitors in the limited circumstances spelled out in their Privacy Notice.

How long visitor data is retained


If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Contact form

This form and the Briminnie database do not store any of your personal information nor do they store your messages. Your contact information and messages are emailed to me directly where only I have access to read and reply to all inquiries. Once our discussion has concluded I will archive the conversation in Google’s Gmail, my email service. If requested I will delete the entire conversation. See Google’s Privacy Policy to learn more.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics does not collect or retain personally-identifiable data. Google Analytics retains non-identifiable data indefinitely from Briminnie to best show website usage trends over the years.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.


If you are within the European Union, you are entitled to certain information and have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Those rights include:

  • Opt-out – You may opt out of future email communications by following the unsubscribe links in my newsletters. You may also notify me at info[at] to be removed from my mailing list.
  • Access – You may access the personal information Briminnie has about you by submitting a request to info[at]
  • Amend – You may contact me at info[at] to amend or update your personal information.
  • Forget – You may request that I erase or forget your personal data. To do so, please submit a request to info[at]

Briminnie will retain any information you choose to provide to me until the earlier of: (a) you asking me to delete the information, (b) my decision to cease using my existing data providers, or (c) I decide that the value in retaining the data is outweighed by the costs of retaining it.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority that has jurisdiction over issues related to the GDPR.

Briminnie requires only the information that is reasonably required to enter into a contract with you. I will not require you to provide consent for any unnecessary processing as a condition of entering into a contract with Briminnie.

Children’s information

Briminnie does not knowingly collect and retain any personally-identifiable information, such as contact form submissions, from children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes that Briminnie has personally-identifiable information about a child under the age of 13 in its database, please contact me immediately at info[at] and I will promptly delete such information.
