Always feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns via my contact page or email me at info[at]briminnie.com.
What personal data I collect and why I collect it
When visitors leave comments on Briminnie I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you submit a message through the form on my contact page, your name and email will be captured as well as the contents of your message. I will use your contact information to get in touch with you regarding your inquiries. I do not use the information submitted through the contact form for marketing purposes nor do I sell your information.
Briminnie may log information using cookies, which are small data files stored on your browser by this website. Briminnie may use both session cookies, which expire when you close your browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your browser until deleted, to provide you with a more personalized experience on Briminnie.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on Briminnie may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
I track the use of Briminnie using Google Analytics to ensure I’m producing relevant, high-quality content for my users. Google Analytics provides information such as referring websites and user actions on Briminnie. Google Analytics may capture your IP address, location, operating system, and device, but Google Analytics does not capture any personally-identifiable information.
Please see Google’s policy that states how they use information from sites, such as Briminnie, that use their services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
On Briminnie you may subscribe to my newsletter, which is only used to notify readers of new blog posts and quarterly updates regarding Briminnie news and other relevant information. All newsletters sent may contain tracking pixels. The pixel is embedded in emails and allows an analysis of the success of each emailed newsletter. Because of these tracking pixels, I may see if and when you open an email and which links within the email you click. Also, this allows me to adapt the content and structure of future newsletters to the interests of my readers. This behavior will not be passed on to third parties.
Who I share your data with
I do not share personally-identifiable data with anyone nor with any services.
The non-identifiable data collected on Briminnie using third-party services, such as Google Analytics and any others listed above, is shared with each respective service.
How long I retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Google Analytics does not collect or retain personally-identifiable data. Google Analytics retains non-identifiable data indefinitely from Briminnie to best show website usage trends over the years.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you are within the European Union, you are entitled to certain information and have certain rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Those rights include:
- Opt-out – You may opt out of future email communications by following the unsubscribe links in my newsletters. You may also notify me at info[at]briminnie.com to be removed from my mailing list.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority that has jurisdiction over issues related to the GDPR.
Briminnie requires only the information that is reasonably required to enter into a contract with you. I will not require you to provide consent for any unnecessary processing as a condition of entering into a contract with Briminnie.
Where I send your data
Google Web Fonts
For uniform representation of fonts, Briminnie uses web fonts provided by Google. When you open a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.
For this purpose your browser has to establish a direct connection to Google servers. Google thus becomes aware that Briminnie was accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Web Fonts is done in the interest of a uniform and attractive presentation of the Slider Revolution plugin (for my home page slideshow) and Briminnie as a whole. This constitutes a justified interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO.
If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font is used by your computer.
Visitor comments may be checked through Akismet, which is an automated spam detection service for my blog post comments. The plugin collects commenters IP address, user agent, referrer, and website URL. In addition to these, Akismet also collects information directly provided by commenters such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself.
Briminnie does not knowingly collect and retain any personally-identifiable information, such as contact form submissions, from children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes that Briminnie has personally-identifiable information about a child under the age of 13 in its database, please contact me immediately at info[at]briminnie.com and I will promptly delete such information.
